Was the first tenant in our unit @ 1400 St. Georges Ave. Unit was very nice and location is good. Many shopping options and restaurants. BUT Renter beware! The management company is not responsive to issues you have in your unit and will absolutely try and take your security deposit after move out. Our AC unit was dripping water into the catch below and not draining appropriately. Once the catch filled with water the unit shut off. Having called several times the super finally came and used a shop vac to suck out the water did nothing to actually fix it from happening again. For the last few months we lived there I used a plastic cup and a cooler to "bail" my AC unit out so it would run again. According to the super, he was doing what he could to help us, Management wouldn't let him call in the help he needed to actually fix it. In terms of moving out, management here has ZERO flexibility with ending a lease early. I informed them over 90 days ahead of time that we had purchased a home and would like to move out about 3 months before our lease ended. They will not let you out of the lease. No deals, no penalties etc. They will expect you to continue to pay the rent until the end of the lease or until someone else re-rents the apartment. I figured that with 90 days notice they would be able to re-rent the apartment before we even moved. WRONG. They made no effort to rent the place at all. Finally, I got involved, advertising the place on Craigslist. I was able to find the person who ultimately moved into the unit but not before we had paid rent and a mortgage for two months. Hard to believe a large property management company couldn't rent a single apartment over a 5 month period but I could on Craigslist... Be wary as you plan your move out. I had hoped for some type of deal to let us out of the lease or at least some effort to rent the place. They showed none. They don't care. Just want you to keep sending them rent checks. Finally, the security deposit. Once we moved out and our walk through, we were told areas of the apartment needed to be painted. Nothing crazy just normal scuffs and so on. We had lived there 3 years. This is not a surprise. Especially considering the cheap builders grade flat paint they used. However, we were told we would be getting 100% of our security deposit back on several occasions. Once the unit was re-rented (they held our deposit the full 30 days allowed, even though we had been out of the unit for 2 months and allowed them in to prep it for re-renting) we received our security deposit back with $1,600 missing for painting the entire unit top to bottom. They are essentially using your deposit money to help them maintain their property so they don't have to spend the money. Contacting the management company is like contacting a black box. You have no idea what will come of it but it will probably not end up well for you. Great place horrible management. Be wary and document EVERYTHING!
